One of the most crucial steps on the road to healing is to be grateful for both the blessings and the challenges we encounter. When challenges arise we often ask why we have to face them. This question is a fork in the road to healing. One path leads to self-pity, an empty rhetorical question with no intention to seek an answer. We can get stuck asking why for so long that we settle for a doomed existence. The other path leads to self reflection. What actions of our own led to these challenges? What actions can we take to get to where we’d like to be? How blessed are we to be capable of this high level of thinking and have the opportunity to grow, reaching for the sun and enjoying the warmth of being?
